Teens Unite Fighting Cancer is a Broxbourne based registered charity with a national reach dedicated to improving the lives of young people aged between 13-24 with life limiting illnesses. They work closely with a number of leading hospitals including University College London Hospital, Royal Marsden and Addenbrookes.
Projected Goals: – Short Term
- Help give teenagers quality time together on special days out
- Grants for hair replacement - Working with White Cliff Foundation to help provide teenagers with a new non-invasive hair replacement
- To set up and facilitate a teens user group and support network
Long Term and Ultimate Goal
- To build their own Respite Homes
- To build ‘bolt-on’ Respite Homes
As many as six teenagers a day are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. Teens Unite want to help improve the quality of life for young people. This period of their life is unlike any other time, they display remarkable courage, their ills bear no weight and tears no bitterness.
When a teenager is diagnosed and requires continuous treatment, it places a tremendous strain on all members of the family. The long term aim of the charity is to establish the first stand alone Respite Home in the Borough of Broxbourne. This will be the first such home for teenagers in the UK and a project that will have a national profile.
The home will allow teenagers the opportunity to spend time with others in similar situations to themselves, enabling them to build on their confidence and reduce the feeling of isolation. A home for teens with support from teens.
Please support the charity, ’teens unite’ -fighting cancer.
Cllr.
